Proposed Remediation Works at Moone Bridge, Co. Kildare - Section 177AE Planning Application

Moone Bridge, Co.  Kildare, Remediation Works

Application to An Bord Pleanála

 

Kildare County Council hereby publishes this notice of its intention to carry out remediation works on Moone bridge, Co. Kildare.

Moone bridge, is a single span masonry arch structure. The River Barrow and River Nore SAC is c. 15.6km downstream of Moone bridge. Due to the hydrological connection via the Greese river, there is a potential pathway for impact to affect downstream aquatic features of interest for which the SAC is designated.  

The works will consist of

Replacement of soft grass verges with concrete rubbing strips
Installation of stainless-steel drainage integrated into concrete rubbing strip
De-vegetation of parapet/spandrel walls and repointing of joints as a result
Repair of missing/ damaged sections of the parapet wall and copping
De-vegetation and Debris removal on embankments
All loose friable mortar of the arch barrel to be raked and repointed.
Installation of fencing
Removal of material that has built up in the downstream riverbed.
Installing reflective flexible bollards

Notice is hereby given that Kildare County Council proposes to seek approval of An Bord Pleanála for the proposed works under Section 177AE (4) (a) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended (as inserted by Section 57 the Planning and Development (Amendment) Act 2010).

A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared in respect of the proposed works.

An Bord Pleanála may give approval to the application with or without conditions or may refuse the application.

A copy of the NIS and Project Particulars (including the EIA Screening) will be available for inspection at the following locations from 9th March, 2022 (inclusive):

  • The offices of Kildare County Council, Level 4, Aras Chill Dara, Naas, Co. Kildare Monday – Friday between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm, BY APPOINTMENT. Appointments must be made in advance at http://kildare.ie/countycouncil/OnlineBookingSystem/
  • The Offices of An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, Monday – Friday during working hours. Note: Due to COVID-19, it is recommended that persons contact the Office to arrange viewing of the application in advance (Phone: (01) 858 8100 or Lo-call 1890 275 175).

The NIS and Project Particulars may be inspected free of charge or purchased on payment of a specified fee (which shall not exceed the reasonable cost of making such copy).

Submissions or observations may be made in writing to An Bord Pleanála,64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, D01V902 before 25th April, 2022 relating to;

  1. the implications of the proposed development for proper planning and sustainable development in the area concerned,
  2. the likely effects on the environment of the proposed development, and
  3. the likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European site, if carried out.

Any submissions or observations must be received by An Bord Pleanála not later than close of business on 25th April, 2022.

A person may question the validity of any such decision by the Board by way of an application for a judicial review under Order 84 of the Rules

of the Superior Courts (S.I. no 15 of 1986) in accordance with Section 50 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.
