Litir Chumhdaigh

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing on behalf of Narraghmore Development CGL, we are an active community group with many strands such as 'The Narraghmore Tidy Towns & Biodiversity' group, The Old Hardware - Community Shop & Tea Room / KCC Cycle Cafe and The Narraghmore Sustainability Group. We have very strong community engagement and have delivered many positive outcomes within our village for our residents. We organise many events and activities making our community as inclusive as possible. The Old Hardware project has transformed our village since it opened in 2019 - bringing life back into the village. Narraghmore is a really positive place to live and a lovely place to visit however we do have a lack of green / recreational areas. Currently the only green space is at the back of the Band Hall (which we currently have on a lease) however this area now seems to be ear marked for 'New Residential' area which would remove any green space from our village! So we would welcome this space to be protected and re-categorised as 'Recreational'.

The map within this plan shows a 'Wooded Area' in the village center but this is actually just an private area with overgrown hedging which once housed a tennis court so not a Wooded area to enjoy.

There is also another green area currently owned by KCC - at the end of Hill View Terrace which currently attracts a lot of anti-social activity, we believe that this area should also be looked at for redevelopment into a 'recreational area' for all the community which would address the current anti-social activity.

There are also some in inaccuracies with regards to services outlined in this plan which I will address below.

V2 3.14.1 NARRAGHMORE

Social Infrastrucure - The Museum (was just a temporary display) & Post Office are no longer open, the Post Office closed in 2018.

Caibidil:
Ábhair:

Re-Categorsing some 'C New Residential' and 'B Existing Infill' to Green /Recreational Areas - details in covering letter above: areas marked on map in Orange outline

We would also like to see part of the area adjecent to the L-8008-3 which is marked for the initial 'New Residential' development ringfenced as a Green Area, again with the lack of green space within the village it is important to keep some of the exisitng agricultural fields / green areas visible when entering the village. We feel development in this section would have a negative impact on our community.

Volume 2

Caibidil:
Ábhair:

V2 3.14.2 Natural Heritage
V N3 It is an objective of the Council to implement a tree planting scheme in the Village Square in order to improve the general
appearance of the village and also enhance biodiversity -

With regards to the above :

We would really welcome a tree planting scheme within the village of Narraghmore and maybe some of the areas we have highligted could provide space for this however our understanding is that there is already plan for completion of the Village Square - redevelopment which remains uncompleted for many years now despite reassurances from councillors & KCC roads that it is on KCC works schedule every year!
