Our group is strongly in support of section 12.14.6.5: we would not be in favour of Bord na Móna leaving small pockets of preserved land that are disconnected from each other. This will not support our local biodiversity. Wildlife areas require extensive buffer zones and connection betwen each other.
Our group is backing the concept of a National Peatlands Park in the Bog of Allen as per submission KCC-C55-147
Our group is also supporting section 12.14.8.8 on peatway trails in Rathangan and Edenderry areas. These trails are very important from a local tourism development point of view (eco-tourism linked to Blueway), community well-being and from a biodiversity perspective to some extent.
