3. Housing

Ábhair:

It is essential that the council look to support the introduction of a number of serviced sites at vari

ous loacations around the county.

Time after time we find oursleves making represenatations for once off housing applications that fail to get planning permission. Therefore if we provide serviced sites in rural villages across our county it will support families, with an oppotunity to build thier homes albeit not as a once off build.

Today I'd like to make reprsentations on a number of sites in the Athy Municpile district that i would support for serviced sites.

One location in Ballyshannon, in close proximity to the school has been earmarked for serviced site. The owners of this site have also made a submission for the entire area that they currently own to be used as a serviced site whichi would like to support.

Two locations in Castledermot within the town boundaries. One area where ths council have made a submission that the field behind the secondary school can be used for a sports pitch and run track. The rest of the area i'd like to see utilized for housing, as per the submission from the owners of this field.

This area will support several sports clubs in the community as well as the schools, plus offer an opportunity for rural housing needs being met.

The second location in castledermot is again within the town boudaries, as you exit the town on the main Castledermot to Carlow road. This site currently used for agriculture would be an ideal site for supporting the housing needs of rural kildare with a link to the motorway only 2.5km away.
