Rural housing/brownfield sites
To Kildare Co.Co,
I wish to make a submission RE:2023-2029 County Development Plan.
Looking at the rural county as a whole there is a large amount of derelict houses, unfinished house constructions, fire damaged houses, ruins and brownfield sites. These areas are an eyesore to the people of Kildare and a scar on the landscape.
It would be much safer to have these sites utilised and made available for the rural housing need especially as they are unusable for other purposes like agriculture. Therefore, favourable inclusion in the county development plan of these brownfield sites for usage towards one off rural housing would be a great opportunity to make safe, and clean up, our countryside.
Furthermore, some of these brownfield sites, while not lived on for large periods of time, if replaced with one off rural housing, would be easier on the eye to Kildare locals than their current overgrown and sorry state, and would keep the rural community alive. In the current housing crisis climate, this is a win win for Kildare Co. Co in relation to safety, rural housing supply and demand, and natural aesthetics of our fine county.
I hope you take this into consideration for the upcoming 2023-2029 county development plan.
