5. Sustainable Mobility & Transport

Ábhair:

Currently there is no footpath on the Boreen Road, Straffan, which starts within the village boundary.

There is also no transport links there, the school bus does not come this way and the Bus Eireann bus stop, while only a short walk of 15 minutes away is too dangerous due to severe bends and no hard shoulder. Part of the village plan was to improve sight lines on the road and to extend the path and put in public lighting but no work has been done yet.

There is also, what once was a well used path, from the Boreen Road to the New Road, where the National School is, which has been blocked. On the attached document, you can see it's location. This could be used as a walkway or cycleway for people to access the Bus Eireann stop on the New Road and to be able to make their way to school safely.

Furthermore the rear gates of the K Club have been closed to locals for the past year so there is now nowhere safe to even go or a walk or exercise without getting into a car and driving.

Residents of the this road have no footpath, no access to the school bus or other transport, no safe access to any amenities and this needs to be addressed
