Proposed M4 Eastbound Bus Priority Measures Pilot
Planning Reference: P82022.20
Pursuant to the requirements of the above, Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out the following development:
M4 Eastbound Bus Priority Measures between Junction 7 Maynooth and Junction 5 Leixlip.
The proposed development comprises of utilising the eastbound carriage of the M4 between Junction 7 and Junction 5. The Bus Priority Measures are to be achieved by utilising the existing M4 eastbound hard shoulder to provide a non-physically segregated full-time bus priority measures that can be used by buses and coaches. The works required along the M4 eastbound carriageway to accommodate this proposal include the following:
- Road widening into the central median and verge between Junction 7 and Junction 5 on the M4 eastbound carriageway, including all ancillary works; and
- 8 No. emergency refuge areas between Junction 7 and Junction 5 on the M4 eastbound carriageway.

Particulars of the proposed project will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy at the offices of Kildare County Council, Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas. Co. Kildare. W91 X77F (Public Display Area) (Opening hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday).
The proposed project will also be available for inspection at:

(Opening Hours 10:00am – 5:00pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, 10:00am – 8:00pm Tuesday & Thursday)
- Lucan Library, Lucan Shopping Centre, Newcastle Road, Lucan, Dublin K78 V295. (Opening hours 9:45am – 8:00pm Mon – Thurs, Fri & Sat 9:45am – 4:30pm)
The proposed development has undergone Appropriate Assessment Screening under the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) and the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended and the Planning Authority has determined that a Stage 2 Appropriate Assessment is not required in this instance. In addition, the proposal has also undergone screening for Environmental Impact Assessment under the EIA Directive 2014/52/EU (and the relevant provisions of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended) and the Planning Authority has determined that there will be no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and therefore an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required. In accordance with Section 120 of the Planning & Development Regulations (as amended), any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.

All comments, including names of those making comments, submitted to the Council in regard to this project will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at a meeting of the elected members. Accordingly, they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain.
