Litir Chumhdaigh
My family and I have been living in Sunday's Well since 2001. The motivation for my submission is simple. Nobody living in the areas directly affected by the proposed by-pass want said by-pass and have made that abundantly clear at a number of meetings which took place over two years ago. We also made it abundantly clear that we would never ever vote again for any TDs who supported the bypass, all of whom live outside of the affected areas.
The simple fact that none of us want this by-pass should actually suffice. But, let's go over the reasons that were spelt out ad nauseum over two years ago.
1) We do not want the added noise pollution of extra traffic.
2) We do not want added pollution (fumes) from extra traffic.
3) We do not want the added difficulty in entering/exiting the estate as a result of extra traffic.
4) We do not want the added risk to the safety of our estate's children brought on by extra traffic.
5) We do not want the increased likelihood of anti-social behaviour that accompanies the existance of a giant wall separating our estate from the blessington road.
6) Nobody wants even more concrete. Seriously, are you human? Why would any sane population consent to replace more grass with concrete?
6) We do not want further destruction of natural habitats along the proposed by-pass. This includes not only areas inhabited by the bee population but also the rather large oak trees that are often centuries old.
Quite simply, there is not a single way in which people living in this estate and others along the blessington road will benefit from this and you all know it. Yes, you could argue such a by-pass might benefit people living in an new developments that get built in the future. However, you were voted to in by US to represent US, not people who don't even live in Naas and certainly not property developers. This is incredibly arrogant and insulting to the local community. I cannot speak for everyone, but I will never ever vote for any TD that went along with this.
Don't build the bypass
Because we said so.
