I would like to object to the closure of the slips roads on the Sallins Canal. The Slip way down towards the school is needed to allow traffic to get to the school, golf club several private houses and shortly the new park and access to N7 northbound which is vital for people commuting to Dublin etc.
The road at the Railway in can't accommodate the traffic with the slip road open regularly causes traffic build up as cars cant turned down here due to cars being parked in their spaces and the traffic entering Sallins from Kerdiffstown Road. There is no need for this slip road to be closed. Indeed a one way system whereoe the only turn down on to the Kerdiffstown Road from the main street in Sallins was via the slipway would actually help traffic movement in the area and also make it safer for children walking to the school playgrounds etc.
The closure of this slip way is a ill thought out proposal and not proposed by anyone that would use this road on a regular basis.
The harbour of the far side at Lock 13 is a lovely feature and he removal of car spaces here is unnecessary. Several of the residents on the canal use these for their cars and also customers to Lock 13 and JP Healys use then.
Also by removing this spaces it leaves very little parking for families that would like to use the canal as a greenway for walks and bikes rides etc especially those more vulnerable users.
