I request that Kildare County Council (KCC) remove Proposed Material Alteration to the Development Plan No 5.49 D and 5.59 from the Development plan for Leixlip area.
My family and I are regular park users. We are also members of Confey GAA. Our juvenile numbers have grown and we need to access to GAA pitches in St.Catherine's Park. We are saddened, angered and absolutely opposed to any infrastructure that will impact on the integrity of St Catherine’s Park.
This park is much-loved and much utilised green space. It is a critical natural amenity for all who live in Lucan, Leixlip and surrounding areas.
The council’s objective here should be to protect St.Catherine's Park from any attempt to destroy this recreational facility. Furthermore it should the council's objective to take all necessary steps to maintain and enhance same for current and future generations.
It is totally unacceptable that a council representing the residents of North Kildare should even consider supporting the premeditated destruction of the greatest public amenity in our county by facilitating construction of a major road through St. Catherine’s Park.
