Kildare County Council, on behalf of RunAthy (Half Marathon), gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to close the following road on Sunday, 7 April 2024 to facilitate a half marathon.

Maganey Crossroads

Alternative Routes:

Traffic travelling North from Carlow towards Athy on the R417 will be diverted at Maganey Crossroads (The Three Counties). Diversions will be via the L4009 into Castledermot, followed by the R418 directly into Athy.

Traffic travelling South from Athy to Carlow on the R417 will be diverted onto the N78 to Foxhill turning right and then turning left onto R418 to Castledermot to Carlowgate to Abbeylands and right onto Maganey road , followed by the L4009 to Maganey Cross.

Athy Distributor Road

 

 

 

Temporary closure of the distributor road from 10am till 10:15am and then traffic managed from 11am till 12:45pm on a stop and go system.

Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána. Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained.

Any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the A/Senior Executive Officer, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces, Aras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or by clicking "make a submission" on or before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 06 February 2024.
