The Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly are at the earliest stage of reviewing the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES) and are seeking input from communities, stakeholders and all interested parties on the future of our region. Your feedback will help shape the preparation of a new draft RSES that supports sustainable social, environmental and economic development for everyone.

The RSES is a spatial and economic strategy for the region which guides where people will live, work, study and visit into the future. It supports the implementation of the National Planning Framework and the economic policies and objectives of the Government, and in this respect, it provides a long-term framework for the coordinated development of our urban and rural places, infrastructure, transport, economic activity and our environment across the region. In doing so, it considers the needs, challenges, opportunities and pressures facing the region by providing appropriate policy responses.

To support this consultation, a Strategic Issues Paper is available under the “Materials” section. This paper outlines key issues facing the region and includes a series of questions to help guide your response.
