An Garda Síochána, the Health Service Executive South and the relevant Local Authority (in this case – Kildare County Council) are each required by the Chemicals Act (Control of Major Accident Hazards involving Dangerous Substances) Regulations 2015 (S. I. No. 209 of 2015) to prepare a plan (External Emergency Plan) to deal with effects off-site and to assist, where relevant, with the emergency response on site in the event of a major accident at sites designated as ‘Upper-Tier Seveso Sites’ under the above-mentioned Regulations. The above is such a site. This public consultation is taking place in accordance with Section 16 (6) of S. I. no. 209 of 2015.

Your views are very important, and we would like to hear what you have to say about the draft External Emergency Plan for Intel Ireland Ltd. Your comments will be considered and will inform the development of the final plan.  

You can make general comments or comment on specific issues. When commenting on a specific section of the plan, it would help us if you would tell us the reference number of the section on which you are commenting.

The plan is available for viewing in the following locations:

  • Kildare Fire Service Headquarters, Central Fire Station, Newbridge, Co. Kildare

  • Leixlip Library, Captains Hill, Leixlip, Co. Kildare

  • Leixlip Garda Station

  • HSE Emergency Management Office, Saint Marys Hospital, Phoenix Park, Dublin.

Dates for viewing are from the 31st of August 2026 until the 25th of September 2026 inclusive, excluding weekends. Times for viewing are:

  • Between 09:30 and 16:30 hrs

  • During normal library opening hours up to 16:30 at Leixlip Library.

Submissions in relation to the proposed plan may be submitted from the 31st August 2026 either:

  • On this page at MAKE A SUBMISSION above or

  • In writing using the prescribed form available at each location to the Chief Fire Officer, Central Fire Station, Newbridge, Co Kildare W12 PW70

Please make your submission by one medium only, i.e., online or hard copy. Submissions should state your name and where relevant, the body or organisation represented.

The latest date for receipt of submissions in respect of this plan is Friday the 09th of October 2026 at 12:00.  Late submissions will not be accepted.
