Notice of Draft Traveller Accommodation Programme 2025 – 2029
In accordance with the Housing (Traveller Accommodation) Act, 1998, Kildare County Council (being the relevant housing authority specified under the Act) is preparing a new Traveller Accommodation Programme for the period 2025 – 2029. This plan will cover the functional area of Kildare County Council.
Kildare County Council previously invited submissions for the Programme from interested parties to be made by Thursday, 28 March 2024. On foot of these submissions and following an assessment of existing and projected accommodation needs for members of the Traveller community within the Council’s administrative area, a draft version of the Traveller Accommodation Programme has been prepared and is available for public viewing from Thursday, 22 August 2024to Thursday, 24 October 2024.
The draft can be viewed at the address listed below or can be accessed on our website: www.kildarecoco.ie. Copies can also be requested by phoning Traveller Accommodation Unit, Housing Department at (045) 980991 and are available for viewing in the Council’s Offices,Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare.
Written comments and submissions in relation to the draft programme should be made in writing and returned in a sealed envelope marked ‘Traveller Accommodation Programme 2025 – 2029’ and addressed to SeniorExecutive Officer, Traveller Accommodation Unit, Housing Department, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or online via the Council’s Consultation Portal (Web link https://consult.kildarecoco.ie/en) no later than 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, 24 October 2024.
All comments, including names of those making comments submitted to the Council regarding the Draft Traveller Accommodation Programme as outlined above, will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at a meeting of the elected members. Accordingly, they will also be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain.
