Kildare County Council, on behalf of Uisce Eireann and Coffey, gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to have intermittent closures on the following road from Monday 22nd June 2026 to Friday 25th September 2026 to facilitate works for the Crodaun Waste Water Network Upgrade.
The intermittent closures will vary in length from 1 to 3 days maximum over this period with closure numbers and durations being kept to a minimum.

Alternative Routes:
North bound on R405
Take a left at Celbridge Garda Station / Costa Coffee onto the R449 and continue for 5.3km until you come to the Barberstown roundabout. Take the third exit off the roundabout onto the R406 towards Maynooth.. Continue on the R406 for 4.8km until you reach a roundabout and take the second exit to stay on the R406 towards Maynooth.Continue for 1km until you reach the Maxol Petrol Station at the R405 junction and take a right onto the R405 towards Celbridge.Continue on the R405 for 3.5km until reach the R449 roundabout. Take the second exit off the roundabout to stay on the R405 where the diversion ends.
South Bound from R449
When you reach the roundabout at the R405 junction, take the second exit onto the R405 towards Maynooth. Continue on the R405 for 3.5km until you reach the Maxol Petrol Station at the R406 junction and take a left onto R406 towards Naas.Continue for 1km until you reach the roundabout south of the M4 motorway and take the second exit to stay on the R406 towards Naas. Continue on the R406 for 4.8km until you reach the Barberstown roundabout and take the first exit onto the R403 towards Celbridge. Continue on the R403 for 5.3km until you reach the Maynooth Rd. junction (R405) and take a left onto the R405 towards Maynooth where the diversion ends.
South Bound from R405
When you reach the roundabout at the R405 junction with the R449, take the third exit onto the R405 towards Maynooth.Continue on the R405 for 3.5km until you reach the Maxol Petrol Station at the R406 junction and take a left onto R406 towards Naas. Continue for 1km until you reach the roundabout south of the M4 motorway and take the second exit to stay on the R406 towards Naas. Continue on the R406 for 4.8km until you reach the Barberstown roundabout and take the first exit onto the R403 towards Celbridge. Continue on the R403 for 5.3km until you reach the Maynooth Rd junction (R405) and take a left onto the R405 towards Maynooth where the diversion ends.
Temporary traffic management measures, including intermittent road closures, will be implemented over the forementioned period to facilitate phased deep excavation works at selected locations along the route. Advance notice of specific closures will be provided prior to implementation via signage and local outlets. Wherever practicable, such closures will be scheduled outside peak traffic periods in order to minimise disruption to road users.
Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána. Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained.
Any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the A/Senior Executive Officer, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces at Aras Cill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare or directly by clicking 'make a submission'on or before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 02 June, 2026
