PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES

SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994

In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention of:

Scoil Bhríde, Straffan - Safe Routes to School Scheme comprising of:

  • Implementation of Safe Routes to School measures, including pencil bollards and road markings, to improve safety for vulnerable road users at the school.
  • Reconstruction and widening of the footpath outside of Scoil Bhríde and footpath to the signalised crossing, to increase safety for vulnerable road users and support safer active travel.
  • Upgrading of the existing signalised crossing to a raised signalised crossing to the south of Scoil Bhríde.
  • Designation of existing perpendicular parking spaces at the front of the school as staff parking.
  • Retention of existing road kerb lines and carriageway widths along The Glebe.
  • Upgrading of the regulated bus set down zone and installation of two (2) accessibility parking spaces.
  • Installation of two (2) raised uncontrolled pedestrian crossings on roads adjoining The Glebe, at St Brigids Terrace and The Beeches.
  • Installation of one (1) uncontrolled at-grade pedestrian crossing at the junction of The Glebe & Coarse Moor.
  • Installation of a new signalised crossing on Barberstown Road.
  • Installation of a footpath and raised uncontrolled pedestrian crossing outside of the GAA Club to increase safety for vulnerable road users.

Drawings showing the proposed works will be available for inspection at the following locations from 30 April 2025 to 29 May 2025.
