PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES
SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994
In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994,
Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention of:
Naas to Sallins Greenway – Abbey Bridge to Osberstown Bridge Scheme comprising of:
Prohibition of through traffic, whilst retaining access of local resident traffic, along the scheme extents;
Installation of retractable bollards and coloured surfacing at Lock N4 along the Canal Road and at Lock N1 along the Canal Road and in vicinity of Osberstown Bridge;
Installation of traffic calming ramps on the approaches to Abbey Bridge, Tandy’s Bridge and Osberstown Bridge;
Installation of road signage;
Installation of road markings;
Traffic management along Abbey Street and Basin Street including the installation of signage and bollards along to prohibit access from Abbey Street onto Basin Street;
Road resurfacing as determined necessary along the scheme extents;
Installation, upgrade, and retention of public lighting in line with recommendations from Bat Survey report; and
Installation of shared path, drop kerbs, barriers and yield priority traffic management system in vicinity of Millennium Bridge under pass.
Drawings showing the proposed works will be available for inspection at the following locations from 23 April to 24 May 2024
