PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES

SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994

 

In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994,

Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention of:

Holy Child National School, Safe Routes to School Scheme comprising of:

  • Reconstruction and widening of footpath outside of the Holy Child National School on Lacken View, Naas to promote safe active travel.
  • Installation of 4 no. uncontrolled pedestrian crossings along Lacken View and adjoining roads along Lacken View in close vicinity to the Holy Child National School.
  • Installation of 1 no. controlled pedestrian crossings along Lacken View at the main entrance of the Holy Child National School.
  • Installation of new pencil bollards along Lacken View.
  • Traffic calming ramps installed at either side of the Holy Child National View along Lacken View and tightening of kerbing on adjoining T-Junctions to reduce vehicular speeds.
  • On-street parking on the northern side of the main school entrance removed and replaced with a regulated bus set down zone and accessibility parking spaces.
  • Safe routes to school initiatives such as bollards, road markings and signage to be incorporated outside the school to enhance greater safety to vulnerable road users.

Drawings showing the proposed works will be available for inspection at the following locations from 23 April 2024 to 24 May 2024
