NOTICE OF CONSIDERATION OF A SCHEME FOR THE WAIVER OF RATES
Section 15 of the Local Government Rates and Other Matters Act 2019 makes specific provision that elected members of a local authority may make a scheme providing for the waiver of rates, and that such a scheme shall be approved at a local authority meeting.
Kildare County Council will consider a scheme providing for the waiver of rates, applying in the 2026 local financial year, namely a commercial incentive waiver scheme that provides for a three year waiver of a percentage of commercial rates of eligible entrepreneurs/ businesses who occupy a property that has been vacant for a period of at least two years.
Kildare County Council welcomes written submissions from the public on this matter, specifically covering the potential effects of a scheme providing for the waiver of rates on businesses, individuals and on local authority services.
This consultation takes place from Tuesday 28th July 2026 at 9am to Thursday 13th August 2026 at noon.
Submissions must be received by noon on Thursday 13th August 2026 and be made by 1) completing an online survey athttps://consult.kildarecoco.ieor 2) by post to the Administrative Officer, Commercial Rates Section, Finance Department, Kildare County Council, Aras Chill Dara, Naas, County Kildare, W91X77F or 3) by email to rates@kildarecoco.ie

Breithneoidh Comhairle Contae Chill Dara scéim lena bhforáiltear maithiúnas rátaí, a bheidh i bhfeidhm sa bhliain airgeadais áitiúil 2026, sé sin scéim maithiúnas dreasachta tráchtála a fhorálann maithiúnas trí bliana ar chéatadán de rátaí tráchtála fiontraithe/gnólachtaí incháilithe a áitíonn maoin atá folamh ar feadh tréimhse dhá bhliain ar a laghad.
Fáiltíonn Comhairle Contae Chill Dara roimh aighneachtaí i scríbhinn ón bpobal ar an ábhar seo, go háirithe maidir le héifeachtaí a bheith ar an sceim lena ndéantar foráil maidir le tarscaoileadh rátaí ar ghnólachtaí, ar dhaoine aonair agus ar sheirbhísí údaráis áitiúil.
Beidh an comhairliúchán seo ar siúl ó Dé Máirt an 28 Iúil 2026 ag 9am go dtí Déardaoin an 13 Lúnasa 2026 ag meán lae.
