Newbridge has an aging population
Memory loss with age is significant
That all plans for future initatives bear in mind the needs of our most senior citizens and that the town plans be mindful and deploy dementia informed layouts and include those living with dementia in the decision making process to ensure accessibility is practical.
People with dementia will be a growing population increasingly present in public spaces and local neighbourhoods. Current built environment does not always suit people with dementia. Dementia affects the way people interact with and in spaces, and many people with memory loss find typical ways of interacting with the built environment, shopping etc or other people difficult or impossible. The way that KCC planners plan neighborhoods, facilities, and services can make it easier or harder for people with dementia to use, live in, or go to and from these places, lets make it easier.
Please assess and implement town plans with the needs of people with dementia taken into considered, so that places become safer and easier to navigate. A dementia-friendly community allows people with dementia to have a safe, accessible, and dignified life in the community. By making dementia-friendly spaces, colour coded too, KCC planners can play a big role in achieving that goal for all in our community.
This ask is that KCC identifies strategies and best practices to incorporate dementia-friendly approaches in planning for transportation, housing, public space, urban fabric, and social services.
A Circular and BioEconomy Hub for the region based in Newbridge, itself a town that has transitioned from British to Irish powers.
Newbridge has Bord Na Mona AES waste services.
That the Area surrounding BnaM, towards Cutlery Road be a Circular Economy hub of excellence encouraging green, eco business to setup in here. This area currently hosts repair and building supplies services. That the Waste services of AES are part of the rollout as a blended finance Circular Hub, working with the LEO office and local schools to address Waste and build eco business and reuse firms in the area. This will create green jobs and reduce waste in the area and the emissions from transporting waste elsewhere.
The BioEconomy hub in Kildare to be hosted in Newbridge . Kildare have good agriculture and a lack of joint thinking on BioEconomic solutions from the agriculture and providers in the area. A school of shared learning for Bio and Circular Economy to be established in the plans to address agricultural waste e.g. Wool is Cat 3 agricultural waste ways to maximise wool uses in the area e.g. we have a lack of butchers that the plans are made to reimagine food supply chains toles and minimise waste products from the local bioeconomy in to a waste less area.
Donought Economy, DE, is backed by the President of Ireland , that KCC deploy regenerative Donought Economy thinking in future economic plans to address the Biodiversity and climate crisis we are in . That financial decisions be informed by the DE metrics and not the current GDP Economic model see attached
